You will learn the proper techniques for performing CPR on adults, including the correct hand placement, compression depth, and rate. We will also cover CPR techniques for children and infants, as their needs and anatomies differ from adults. You will have the opportunity to practice CPR techniques on manikins, ensuring that you are comfortable and confident in your abilities.

BLS/CPR/FIRST AID (In-person/Online)

First aid is the initial care provided to someone who is injured or suddenly becomes ill. Your actions in those critical moments can make a significant difference in their outcome, and this class will empower you to confidently handle a wide range of medical emergencies.

During this course, we will cover:

  1. The Importance of First Aid: Understanding why first aid is crucial and how your actions can prevent further harm and save lives.

  2. Assessment and Prioritization: How to assess an injured or ill person, prioritize care, and make quick decisions about the appropriate actions to take.

  3. Basic Life Support: Techniques for administering CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in the event of cardiac arrest.

  4. Bleeding and Wound Care: Proper techniques for controlling bleeding, dressing wounds, and preventing infection.

  5. Fractures and Musculoskeletal Injuries: How to recognize and provide initial care for broken bones, sprains, and strains.

  6. Burns and Scalds: Understanding the different degrees of burns and how to provide first aid for burns and scalds.

  7. Choking: Techniques for helping someone who is choking, including the Heimlich maneuver.

  8. Medical Emergencies: How to respond to common medical emergencies such as seizures, diabetic emergencies, and allergic reactions.

  9. Environmental Emergencies: Recognizing and providing care for heat-related illnesses, hypothermia, and other environmental emergencies.

  10. Poisoning and Toxic Substances: Understanding the signs of poisoning and appropriate first aid measures.

  11. Hands-On Practice: Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to practice first aid techniques on manikins, enhancing your confidence and skills.

  12. Written Assessment: To successfully complete the class, you will need to pass a written assessment to demonstrate your understanding of first aid principles and procedures.
